Little Joe has upper hand and Elks win 4-1 and 8-7! On the vestiges of a somewhat gloomy softball season, with the hovering field permit mess, at least Mother Nature has reconciled lately and rewarded us with some Junoesque weather. And the propitious climatic conditions seemed to befit Little Joe who was just lights out. Moreover, Joe's outstanding pitching performance was bolstered by flashy third baseman Joe 21's feline plays; cheek by jowl with Kenny and his contrastingly diffident glove dexterity at short. Both infielders flashed the leather.

The M-Picks never surrendered and had a chance of making things interesting in the top of the seventh of game two with the bases loaded and no outs; but after consecutive pop ups, Mike was gunned down at home play trying to score the tying run.

Also on attendance today: Mauricio, Art, Lawman Matt, Matt, Nelson, Mitch, Russ and the writer. See you all next week!

M-Picks win 4-2 and 5-4! This morning at our arrival to Cunningham Park, the relative lack of visibility rendered a surreal sight. It conveyed the impression of an enchanted place inhabited by mystic phantoms. However once the dense fog finally dissipated the spectral monsters didn't depart; they lingered and transfigured into grudge.

By hook or by crook, we have become slaves of our own sinister introspections and the mantra of winning has crippled our minds. The Vince Lombardi ethic "Winning isn't everything, it is the only thing." has turned now into "win at any cost." That is really pathetic! We participate in sports to have fun and certainly to be successful; however success in sports is more than just winning, it is camaraderie.

Shutout and Blowout! by Mitch Weingart
As softball season began dwindle down, about a dozen of us "braved" sunny skies and 60 degree temps,  getting in 2 unevenly played games with some lopsided results...

Game 1 was a 5 inning shutout by Big Joe, who lead his team in cheerleading and runs scored....Joe also dominated with his bat, sharing home run honors with Nelson that inning.  Whatever chance of scoring in that game was squelched when Matt made a beautiful two out stab off Mo's bat in left field with runners in scoring position.  We shortly conceded the remainder of that game, never realizing that offensive treasures awaited us just moments away.

In game number two, Mo's team scored 2 quick runs in the top of the first, then Joe's team was turned away with bases loaded in the bottom of that inning setting the stage for a category four onslaught of bombastic proportions... because Shortly thereafter, hurricane Mo came ashore with  full fury, leading the M-picks in a ruthless pounding of Big Joe, looting the Elks for 12 runs in the 2nd inning.  Mo homered twice in the 2nd.  Both shots were earth shattering blasts that registered in Pakistan as mild aftershocks.

Jeff added one, Kenny had a dinger... Russell had to settle for triple after tripping over his own erection rounding 2nd base. altho others claim it was really his shoelace...  If I forgot somebody else's homer, I wouldn't be surprised, as we literally chased Joe off the mound, pounding him like the tsunmami waves that decimated the Fubu islands a year ago...

DuctTape Sam was brought in for comic relief, but the assault continued, albeit to a lesser degree...and when the dust settled, the weather channel had recorded a 17-4 victory for the M-picks.

The season will continue a few more weeks, weather permitting.  This week our little league field was occupied by midget terrorists wearing baseball uniforms, so we played at the field down the street by the entrance to the Clearview expwy.

See ya next sunday!!

We played games on those days but no report is available.

Today's report by Joe Kuceluk
Trying to obtain a field for our Sunday softball games has been tough.  Today we started on 73 Ave and 210th St in the soccer field but we were chased just shy of finishing the game.  Jeff always pitches well but we caught up to him after he hurled three scoreless innings.  The game ended in the sixth inning and I can't recall who was ahead but it was a close score.  We left and drove off trying to play a second game on the Union Tpke fields at 235 Street.  The fields were taken.  So we decided to see if our old field on Union Tpke and 198th St was available.  It was clear but we played on the field next to it.  Seven on each side and Kenny played a designated left field.  He was very busy, making catch after catch.  However, the most impressive defensive play was by the centerfielder who's name escapes me.  Sorry! He normally plays shortstop but I think he might continue to shag flies in center as he made a great running backhand catch.   I blew the lead with two errors playing shortstop. Someday I'll practice catching ground balls.  Little Joe got the game winning hit in the bottom of the last inning.

We decided to meet at the old field on Union Tpke and 198th St next week at 8:30 am.  If the field is taken then we can start our search.

We do love this game and if anyone says that every week it's Sammy who comes in wounded and leaves wounded with a leg that looks like a mending broken wire.

See you next week.

M-Picks end losing streak! After consecutive twin bill deplorable defeats, the M-Picks finally managed to secure a victory by edging out the Elks 10-6.

However the game was so dull that Pasquale's footwear mysterious whereabouts had the qualities of a more compelling story: "The case of the vanishing blue sneakers." In view of the fact that everyone was complaining about an unpleasant smell by home plate, I wonder if they are buried there.

Anyhow, after the conclusion of game one, we were forced to vacate the field and we only played two additional innings, insufficient time for game two to be declared official.

On attendance today: Russ, Pasquale, Kenny, Erwin, Mauricio, Manny, Raul, Joe, Yaquir, Big Joe, Jeff, Andre, Dave, Sam, Matt, Mike, Lawman Matt, Danny, Art, Erwin and the writer.

See you all next week! Please be at the field 8:30 a.m. sharp.

M-Picks fall apart! The Elks continued their hitting barrage and defeated the struggling M-Picks 19-7 and 12-11 for their second consecutive doubleheader sweep. In game one Jeff pitched six strong innings and kept M-Picks hitters at bay. M-Picks starter Big Joe lacked command of his pitches and got pummeled. It was a slugfest and the M-Picks defense was again awful.

In game two the M-Picks deserved better luck, however in the fifth inning the acting umpire behind the plate seemed nescient of the strike zone or inadvertently squeezed the pitcher.

In any event, today was sort of a bad day because we had to search for a playing field. Every field was taken so we ended up playing on the little leaguers fenced-in field along 73rd Ave.

Also on attendance today: Mike, Dave, Ken, Lawman Matt, Matt, Nelson, Danny, Mitch, Sam, Joe, Erwin, Jay, Apache John and the writer.

See you all next week!

Sunday, September 11, 2005

Bad Boys Russ puts on a show! The Elks, without their captain, massacred the M-Picks 24-3 and 14-11 and Russ was the impersonation of Scott Rolen at third base. What a day! Mimicking the great Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman... "hoo-ha."

Without scolding the M-Picks defense, the truth is that they sucked big time, and the hefty score was more a product of their poor execution and awful fielding than timely hitting by the opposition. Today's sudden long ball proliferation was also a foreseeable matter and concern. Unless you have three Yaquirs, positioning only three outfielders to patrol such vast pasture is out of the question.

Also on attendance today: Artie, Mitch, Mauricio (played solid third base), Steve (had a lousy day at short but cranked a couple of three-run dingers), Jason (deceiving speed in the outfield, hit some long shots and got a grand slam), Nelson (he regained his power and had a couple of blasts), Jose (pitched great), Big Joe (pitched great also, cannot play center field and hit a ghost grand slam), Joe, Matt, Lawman Matt, Mike (keeps smoking the ball), Dave (solid in the outfield), Jack, Danny and the writer.

See you all next week!

M-Picks rough up Elks! M-Picks won both ends of today's twin bill, 8-7 and 10-3. The Labor Day weekend didn't impact on attendance and we had another great turnout. It was a bit windy however.

Game one was a dandy, a memorable game indeed, a battle of titans! The Elks got on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the first inning but then surrendered five in the bottom of the fourth after failing to turn a tailor-made double play. Big Joe was pitching superbly and his teammates were playing solid defense, fielding flawlessly and flashing leather. Everything looked like an easy victory, but in the top of the seventh the Elks sprung out of their lethargy and managed to load the bases.  With a pair of tricklers they scored three runs and sent the game into extra innings. They even had a chance of scoring the go-ahead run but Jeff was nailed at home plate. In the top of the ninth the Elks regained the lead but the M-Picks rallied back and took care of business. Game two was not as exciting or appealing as game one. The Elks looked fatigued and the M-Picks won effortlessly.

Also on attendance today: Jack, Apache John (adapting well to left field), Mike (pummeled the ball), Fantasy Bill (three-run shot), Manny, Pasquale (shaky), Kenny, Jason (some hacks), Mitch, Virgilio, Mauricio, Doug, Art, George, Yaquir (gold glove outfielder), Erwin, Matt, Nelson, Sam, Danny and the writer.

See you all next week!

Sunday, August 21, 2005

Elks, M-Picks split twin bill! After dropping the first game 8-5, the M-Picks bounced back to take the second one 11-6. In the first game Apache John pitched well until the sixth inning but the mugginess and the change of venue seemed to affect him. After a series of infield errors, he lost his composure and surrendered five runs via a pair of homers by Jason and Jeff. The winning pitcher was Jeff who displayed a lively fastball and kept hitters at bay.

In game two, Jeff run out of gas and the M-Picks changed tactics by playing a more aggressive kind of ball. That could be epitomized by Danny's clever base running and Yaquir's dauntless slide at home plate in the sixth inning. The game ended with power hitter Raul striking out.

Also in attendance today: Marty (welcome back), Matt, Virgilio, Charley, Kenny (outstanding backhand catch at third), Mitch, Nelson, Joe, Sam (great comment after a lackluster attempt by an outfielder: "Well, I guess it's always better to look bad in the field than look like a schmuck"), Jose, Jack, Mauricio, Artie, Pete, Steve (tremendous circus catch in left field), Manny, Russ, Erwin and the writer (game two winning pitcher).

See you all next week!

Sunday, August 14, 2005

Just sizzling If you didn't know, the hot summer days of August are upon us. What a torrid and sultry morning indeed! It was too hot to catch the ball, play or run, but the Elks managed to walk away with another pair of victories: 12-3 and 3-2 respectively.

However, aside for two great consecutive plays by Apache John in left field, Manny's dinger and Mike's aggressive base running, there is not really much to report about today's engagement. In fact, the dominant note throughout was the persistent fielding errors and defensive misplays.

Also on attendance today Kenny, Doug, Sam, Mauricio, Artie, Matt, Lawman Matt, Steve, Big Joe, Mitch, Dave, Jeff, Danny, Jonah, Pasquale, Jose, Jack, Little Joe, Erwin, newcomer Warren and the writer.

Sunday, August 07, 2005

Erwin is back! Erwin's return sparked the Elks who won both ends of today's doubleheader, 8-5 and 7-1. In the opener the Elks scored first but the M-Picks managed to scrape a few runs and tie the game up. Jeff and Big Joe pitched superbly however the turning point of the game would be Kenny's impressive blast over Apache John's head in left field, for a triple, that would put an end to any M-Picks aspirations of a win.

In game two we witnessed another great performance by both pitchers. A lot of pop ups and easy fly balls all morning long; the ball didn't seem to travel too far. The MVP in game two was Big Joe who was just lights out on the mound, flirted with a shutout victory and contributed also with his bat, including a three-bagger.

Also on attendance today: Art, Mauricio, Steve, Jason, Yaquir, Pasquale, Sam, Jonah, Danny, Doug, Pete, Little Joe, Nelson, Matt, Mitch and the writer.

See you guys next week!

Sunday, July 31, 2005

Jeff out duels Big Joe! The M-Picks take both ends of today's double header 8-7 and 6-2 behind Jeff's brilliant pitching performance. Both games were played in the manner Lawman Matt prefers, with an umpire calling balls and strikes.

Game one was a dandy. The Elks managed to score four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and had a chance of coming back but Big Joe was thrown out at the plate to end the game. Game two was an easy victory for the M-Picks. The Elks looked rather lifeless and at times shaky defensively. The M-Picks however played flawless ball and even turned a couple of dazzling double plays.

Also on attendance today: Pasquale (made a terrific stab at third), Yaquir, Matt, Kenny, Doug, Jack, Joe 21, Fantasy Bill (great running catch), Steve, Manny (a gargantuan shot), Artie, Mauricio, Sam, Nelson, Danny, Gary, Russ (a hitting machine and alert running the bases), George, Pete, Little Joe, Dave, Mitch and the writer.

Sunday, July 24, 2005
Mitch carries big bat! After a contentious first game the M-picks managed to salvage the night cap of today's twin-bill with a 7-4 victory. In the opener the Elks cashed in on a couple of misplayed balls to put some unearned runs on the board. Newcomer Mike drove in a pair of RBIs with a long fly ball but the big blow was Jason's sinking line drive with the bases loaded that literally put the game out of reach. The M-Picks however never quitted and Mitch made things interesting in the bottom of the sixth with a clutch hit double. The final score was 9-7.

In game two the M-Picks were in total command and MVP Mitch had another superb at bat to drive in three more runs.

Also on attendance today: Danny, Jonah, Kenny, Doug, Jack, Artie, Russ, Matt, Lawman Matt, Nelson, Apache John, Big Joe, Jeff, Steve, Sam and the writer.

See you guys next week!

BIG JOE, KENNY AND JACK THE RIPPER DOMINATE
"BERNIE WILLIAMS" SUNDAY!
by Mitch Weingart

Homeruns and sloppy fielding were the story of today's double header, a well attended affair, featuring some interesting plays, dubious calls and some inventive fielding by outfielders on both sides of the field.

Game one played on 2 fields, due to a permit conflict, ended in a 4-4 tie, as Dave robbed this writer of a walk-off game winning hit, with a nifty grab in right field.  A strong performance by Big Joe today, hitting for the cycle over both games and pitching both ends of the sun soaked twin bill  (as did Jeff for the M-picks, but due to time restraints, this report will deny his entire contribution and indeed, his entire existence...)

Kenny, brilliant even without his Springsteen shirt, had the "Johnnie Cochran" defensive sparkle of the day, making an unassisted double play on Big Joe's grounder to first,  and then catching a pop up of the next batter in the same inning,  thus getting all three outs on his own Accord, and I don't even think he drives a Honda...so that's even more amazing...  Kenny also had a good day at the plate, hitting a dinger, I think...  (Jeff might have too, but this is not the time or place....)

Jack the Ripper, continued his surge at the plate, tearing the ball past  a shocked  Lawman Matt in left field and deep into a batch of poison ivy for this year's first "ground rule homer"...and then later socking the ball over Pete's head who made a juggling,  circus catch, robbing Jack of his second possible round tripper.  Pete then pulled his hamstring the following inning and was last seen hobbling towards 73 Ave, fighting off a pack of stray dogs, circling vultures and also Jack.

Game two was a tightly played affair, until the late innings, when again Joe's hot streak lead the way for a 15-8 blowout of the M-picks, who crashed faster than Billy Joel going out on a pizza run...

Special mention to Lawman Matt, who spent the first 2 innings of game two, thinking he was still playing in  game one....remember kids, just say no to drugs....  Other than that, Matt had a solid day all around.

We also welcomed another new player also named Matt today, who showed some  much needed skill with the bat and glove...welcome aboard!!
Next week is our last game on Francis Lewis, and then our new permit will be in effect for a softball field somewhere in western Baghdad...which is an easier drive for those of you who come from Long Island...

We are still raising funds for our softball permit by the way, those of you who haven't paid yet, you know who you are!!

Congrats are in order for Maurice, who recently bought a house in Freeport, with all those 20 dollar bills we gave him last week....

Mo and his lovely wife will be moving into his new abode next Sunday, but I have his bases and scoreboard, so nobody will really miss him anyway....

Have a great week... and see ya next Sunday....Seacrest, out....

Sunday, June 19, 2005
Happy Father's Day! The Elks bounce back and win 11-10.

Due to time constraints we'll only report today's attendance: Yaquir, Matt, Pete, Pasquale, Jack, Little Joe, Nelson, Jonah, Danny, Sam, Jeff, George, Doug, Kenny, Mitch and the writer.

Just a Reminder: Next Sunday we'll be collecting $20.00 for field permits!

Sunday, June 12, 2005

M-Picks win first game of season  The Elks took the opener in today's twin bill by a score of 6-4. The game was extremely competitive and well played by both teams. The M-Picks manufactured a couple of runs and seemed in control but the Elks bounced back with a pair of daisy clippers with the bases loaded to take the lead and prevail. In the second game the M-Picks returned the favor and won by an identical margin, 6-4, thanks to Jason's screaming rope. We witnessed at least three plays where runners were doubled off but Yaquir's play to get Big Joe at first was just paramount.

Also on attendance: Danny, John, Sam, Nelson, Pete, Dave, Jeff, Gary, Doug, Kenny and the writer. Next week we'll meet in area adjacent to field 19 along Francis Lewis Blvd and 73rd Ave (North side) at 8:30 AM.

As you are aware our field permits are not free any longer. Effective this year, we'll have to pay Parks a fee for their use. We estimated that twenty dollars per person for the entire year should be adequate to cover these expenses. Consequently, next week we'll be collecting your contributions and will be recorded in a list for that purpose. We have our field permits from July till the rest of year but in order to keep them we have to pay. It's up to you guys!

Sunday, June 05, 2005
Kenny's clutch hitting propels Elks - The M-Picks were mown down by the Elks 11-4 and 12-3. In the first game the M-Picks outfield looked shaky and the Elks capitalized on a series of errors in right field. With the bases loaded Kenny put an end to the M-Picks comeback aspirations by tomahawking a line drive in right center and driving in three RBIs.

In the night cap, after four innings of shutout ball, the Elks managed to load the bases for Kenny once more, and the "Big Kahuna" delivered again, this time with an opposite field hit.

Since field 19 was taken we had to play in one of the newly rebuilt soccer fields along 73rd Avenue by 210th Street just across little league field 21. We all agreed to meet there next week at 8:30 AM while our field situation is not resolved. With regard to that, it seems that from now on we're going to have to pay for the field permits. It will be approximately fifteen/ twenty dollars per player for the entire year. I will let you know.

Also on attendance today: Jack, Jose, Jason, Joe, Joe 21, Joe II, Joey, Sam, Mitch, Danny, Nelson, Pete, Gary, Manny and the writer.

See you all next week!

Monday, May 30, 2005
Finally Opening Day arrived! However it wasn't on a Sunday morning as expected but on Monday, Memorial Day, when we honor the courageous heroes of the nation. And albeit the permit pitfall, we had a great turnout and the nineteen attendees that made to the field could not withhold their joy and pleasure after such a long halt.

After batting practice we played our usual twin bill and the Elks without their captain, Erwin, who had to undergo minor surgery (we wish him a quick recovery), won both games by the score of 6-3 and 5-3. Jeff pitched brilliantly but the player of game was Dave in right field who made some spectacular catches. Also Pasquale made a nice diving catch at short and the M-Picks turned a couple of nice double plays.

On attendance also today: Ken, Kenny, Doug, Jack, Joe 21, Joey, Sam, Lawman Matt, Manny (hit two homers but one was sanctioned an out by the umpire for allegedly missing the bag at third), Danny, Mitch, Mailman Nelson, George, Yaquir, CPA Pete, and yours truly.

See you all next week same field.

Saturday, December 11, 2004
We held our fourth annual party. Erwin returned with his assortment of olives and cheeses and Big Joe with his Kielbasa and Sauerkraut, Billy brought some delicious pasta dishes and Mitch made a splash with the MVP trophy cake. However we were disappointed with Matt's absence and his bogus Kentucky fried chicken bucket. Shyster... I heard someone say! Just kidding! We had a great time and we have green WP hats courtesy of Cheryl. Seasons greetings!

Sunday, December 5, 2004
After two rainouts in a row the weather finally cooperated but we didn't have enough guys to play the game. However we had a good two hour workout and batting practice session. On attendance today were Russ, Mitch, Billy, Matt, Big Joe, Sam and the writer.

As you know, our annual party will be held next Saturday, December 11 at 5:00PM in our community room located at 75-26 Bell Blvd. (entrance is at the rear of building 19W by the pool). So come along, bring your spouse, sweetheart or friend and children, and of course don't forget to bring some sort of nourishment and nutriment as well as drinks and refreshments. We'll set up the tables and chairs. It is a family oriented affair. We'll have boom box to play music, big screen TV and VCR, games like ping-pong, pool, darts, cards, etc. We'll have lots of fun. Cheryl promised a surprise for the players.

See you guys at the party!

Sunday, November 21, 2004
Due to inclement weather and field conditions, today's game was rained out. I contacted Cheryl to reserve the community room for our annual party. It will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 5:00 PM.

On Thursday, as we all gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, let us pause to remember those who have perished defending our great nation and say a prayer for those who are, at this very moment, in harms way risking their lives to protect our freedom.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! Stay safe, eat well, enjoy the time with friends and family, and don't forget to think of those less fortunate.

Brewers defeat WP All Stars 12-6! On a brisk and blustery Sunday morning the "magnificent seven" faced a high arc softball team of Anheuser-Busch Inc. Bud Light Division employees. Even though we are not adept to that softball style we manage to get some decent hits. However in the field we performed poorly. Despite our defensive blunders, Mother Nature seemed to have an aversion toward us, and for some ulterior reason, every time we took the field the mischievous wind would whirl in flurries; later on, during our at bats the gusts would suddenly choke off. No wonder, solid outfielders like Fantasy Bill and Yaquir had all sort of difficulties and predicaments tracking flight balls today.

On attendance today: Bill, Russ, Sam, Joe 21, Matt, Yaquir and yours truly.

Well guys, it is now up to you; next week if attendance doesn't improve, we will call it quits.

Sunday, November 07, 2004
In your face! After a heated exchange over a ball that was arguably called fair, the M-Picks emerge victorious and defeat the Elks easily by a score of 12-5. Although that play did not influence the final outcome of the game, it did however tarnish our modus operandi, in essence, the idea of playing for fun. Our competitive nature frequently commands our impulsive responses, indeed, but our attitude in the field should never be in detriment of comradeship; sometimes "giving up" is the proper course of action.

As you know, the end of our season is approaching at a rapid pace (probably 2-4 Sundays left weather permitting) and it is ashamed to waste gorgeous days like today. We were extremely disappointed with today's low turnout and we don't believe that all the absentees were participating in the marathon.

On attendance today, Jeff, Sam, Nelson, Danny, Big Joe, Manny, Joe, Kenny, Matt, Joe 21, Raul, Alex, José and the writer.

See you next week!

Sunday, October 31, 2004
On Halloween's Sunday triple header extravaganza, the M-Picks take the opener 15-0 via mercy rule, drop the second game 4-14 and win the rubber match 11-4. The Indian summer weather encouraged attendance and we had a great turnout.

Due to time constraints today's report will be abbreviated but I'm sure that you will welcome the new "live action shot" section. Someone left a 13 inch Mizuno Max Flex. I'll bring it next week.

On attendance today: Manny (what a day! three plus homers and... counting), Virgilio (one bomb and pulled a hammy), Raul (losing pitcher in game 3), Pedro (a tremendous dinger), Danny (spring loaded glove), Sam (game 2 winning pitcher), Big Joe (losing pitcher in game 1 and had a busy day in left field), Joe 21 (great reflexes at third), Pat (Mr. Showboat as always but never runs out a grounder), Joe (a Varitek knuckler's type of day behind the plate), Steve (getting married), Yaquir (got it), Matt (left injured), Jeff (winning pitcher in game 1, loser in game 2, and had some great at bats), Kenny (soft glove as always), Vinny (tough day at second), Dennis (good at bats), Roberto (some good cuts...hit for the cycle), Mitch (promised to write his column...hmm), Jose (average day for him), Nelson (a big three run homer) and the writer (three doubles and the winning pitcher in game 3).

See you all next week!

Sunday, October 24, 2004
M-Picks win 16-12. The return of Elks skipper Erwin to a bolstered lineup loaded with powerful sluggers, alike the formidable 2004 Yankee squad that recently crossed the Styx, didn't seem to avert their eventual defeat after nine arduous innings of softball. Big Joe had a great day at the plate with six RBIs and Sam played outstanding defense in left field. Not much else to report today.

Also on attendance today: Mitch, Jeff, Virgilio, Manny, Raul, Danny, Nelson, Yaquir, Joe, Russ and the writer. See you all next week!

Sunday, October 17, 2004
Mitch hits for the cycle! A three run sixth inning helped the M-Picks erase a two run deficit to give them an 11-10 victory over the Elks in game one of today's twin bill, while the Elks, without their captain once again, used some early offense to take game two from the M-Picks by a score of 9-7.

In the opener the M-Picks rallied back after a magnificent at bat by Matsui. With the score tied, one out and two men on base, the writer would follow with a line drive over Jeff's head in left field for the winning RBI.  In the night cap, with two outs and no one on base, the M-Picks managed to score four times to make things interesting. Today's MVP was Mitch. The chilly weather didn't seem to affect his hot bat: a homer, a triple, a pair of doubles and several singles. Just superb!

On attendance today only 14 souls: Mitch, Matsui, Jeff, Raul, Manny, Nelson, Danny, Virgilio, Sam (left with flue symptoms, feel better!), Kenny, Russ, Pedro, Big Joe and the writer. Where is everybody? We haven't heard lately from regulars Joe 21, Pasquale, Fantasy Bill, Steve, Erwin or Apache John. See you next week!

On a separate note, we would like to extent our heartfelt sympathy to Jared and his family over the passing away of his grandfather. Our prayers are with you.

Sunday, October 10, 2004
Sluggers galore! Today the ball traveled well. Raul, Virgilio, Matt, Roberto and Nelson had a Coors Field kind of day. Raul was the MVP with a solo homer and grand salami, but Virgilio shot over dead center was one of the farthest balls ever hit in recent memory. According to Mitch, it was a suitable time for him to finally make use of Cunningham Park comfort station during the game.

The M-Picks took the opener 11-2 and the Elks won the night cap 14-10. Due to Columbus Day weekend today's participation was low since some of the guys were out of town.

Also on attendance: Sam, Rob, Mo, David, Joe, Big Joe, Emiliano, Jeff, Danny and yours truly. See you next week!

Sunday, October 03, 2004
Game cut short due to player injury! An apparent right hamstring pull by Arsenals buddy ends whale of a game abruptly. The player in question was in such pain that he had to be carried off the field. On the top of the six with one out, two men on base and the game tied 2-2, Jeff hit an opposite field line drive. The right fielder tried to make a sliding catch but got hurt on the attempt when his foot twisted. We wish him a quick recovery and remember R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression and elevation).

The player of the game today was Matt who flashed some leather at short and hit a dinger.
On another note, since the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial "The Moving Wall" was on display in the park, we graciously vacated our field to not interfere with the ongoing ceremonies and played on an adjacent field.

Also on attendance today, Nelson, Dave, Big Joe, Kenny, Danny, Sam, Virgilio, Emiliano, Manny, Pedro, Raul and the Jersey group.

See you all next week!

Sunday, September 26, 2004
Elks bounce back! After losing both games against archrival M-Picks last weekend, Elks return the favor by taking both ends of today's doubleheader by scores of 10-6 and 6-5. Emiliano and Jeff were the winning pitchers while Big Joe was credited with both losses. The MVP in game one was Henry who made an outstanding circus catch in left field and blasted a couple of long balls. In game two, Manny deserves the honors. He was unstoppable and got the winning RBI, a cloud buster over Nelson's head in deep center field. Table setters Kenny and Sam were the catalysts, they had great at bats and played solid defense.

Also on attendance today, Nick (awesome at third), Matt (doesn't seem to find his stroke), Joe (his blooper by the green monster was the turning point in game one), Raul (below average day for him), Mitch (caught and played right field), Erin (a bit shaken after colliding with Matt), Gary (a hitting machine today), Virgilio (didn't stay), Erwin (in red instead of accustomed salmon shirt), Nelson (got a hold of one), Dave (nice pivot at second), Danny (afflicted by a foot injury played first), Roberto (a pair of frozen ropes), Steve (big hit in game one), Andre (late arrival), Johnny (didn't play) and yours truly (got robbed three times by Kenny in left field...that sucks!).

Double the pleasure! Not only the M-Picks put on a hitting display and swept the Elks 5-4 and 6-3 to take today's twin-bill but also did it in great fashion with come-from-behind victories in their last at bat; in both instances with two men out. That is simply amazing!

Jared's frozen rope in game 1, Raul and Virgilio's back to back mammoth shots in game 2, were the perfect ending to a pair of thrilling games. In fact, you rarely see so dynamic, exhilarating and well-played games in tandem. Sam and the writer both afflicted by nagging injuries (calf strain and knee contusion respectively) were the winning pitchers while "Ay Mami" lost both games. Sam's  knuckleball and Mo's pop-up instigator floater are usually devastating pitchers in windy days like today.

Also on attendance today, Jeff (played solid 2B), Mailman Nelson (had a triple), Big Joe (a pair of hits), Manny (looked like Matsui at SS), Pedro (a couple of clutch hits and brilliant CF), David (hustled and played hard), Mitch (Johnny Bench behind the plate), Danny (the wind didn't make his job easy), Lawman Matt (great shoe string catch and drove in a few runs), Erwin (he's improving defensively and has become a threat every time at bat), Russ (he's on a tear from the left side of the plate), Kenny (below average day for him), Roberto (a bit of marketing....selling NYY sports bags), Jose (unnoticed), Henry (played well), Joe (not much action for him today), Alvaro (annoying catcher...won't stop talking behind the plate) and Elks third baseman (played well; I didn't get his name).

Arsenals win 10-8! In the bottom of the seventh inning the WP All Stars squad was ahead by two runs thanks to a series of muffled balls and throwing errors by the Arsenals fielders. However, in the top of the ninth, an open for debate bang-bang play at first base would impact the outcome of the game. With only one man out instead, the Arsenals would rally, score four runs and snatch a victory away from the frown-faced WP All Stars. Throughout the entire game, the WP infield played flawless ball. Sam at second, Freddy at third and the writer at short were magnificent.

Today we had a great turnout, 28 to 30 attendees, among them: Danny, Mitch, CPA Pete, Russ, Joe, Big Joe, Jeff, Roberto, Steve, Lawman Matt, Apache John, Dave, Virgilio, Manny, José, Calvin, Pedro, Raul and the rest of the Arsenals gang.

Bring the broom! The Elks defeated and humiliated the M-Picks 6-3, 5-2 and 7-3 respectively to consummate the first ever triple-header clean sweep in WP Softball history. Jeff and Gary pitched lights out and were the winning pitchers. Big Joe had a good pitching performance also but the Elks bats delivered whopping hits in the later innings to prevail. With today's victories Erwin's team has an impressive .640 for the season.

However, aside from the lack of homers in any of the games, the dominant note was the comically grotesque overall play exhibited by both teams defensively; illustrated by intermittent flashes of greatness vis-à-vis manifest mediocrity.

Also on attendance today: Nelson (the impersonation of Murphy's Law today), Russ (showed his dexterity bating left-handed, bravo!... then was caught at first napping), Erwin (was Mr. Clutch Hitter today), Apache John (had a fortunate day at the plate for a change), Sam (had a couple of opposite field frozen ropes), Manny (flashed some leather at short), Raul (crushed the ball), Joey (a pair of hits), Erin (had a big hit), CPA Pete (good day defensively in centerfield), Mitch (just an average day but always photogenic), Danny (dead pull hitter, good day overall), Billy (well...dreadful day), "On-a-collision-course" Andre (he must be related to Pasquale), Kenny (got caught ballet dancing at third...it happens!) and the writer.

See you all next week at 11:00 AM.

WP All Stars weather the storm and defeat Arsenals 15-14! In a game that had all the earmarks of an easy victory, the Windsor Park squad hanged by a thread and averted last minute heroics by the Arsenals that scored six unearned runs in their last at bat of a thrilling confrontation. The torrid weather and blazing hot sun seemed to agree with Lawman Matt and Fantasy Bill who hit the long ball time and again. However the bulk of the run production was a result of mental errors, specifically bad execution and lack of fundamentals. We need to improve in this area.

Also on attendance today: Sam, Steve, Nelson, Ken, Russ, Big Joe, Roberto, Erwin, the writer, Virgilio and his teammates.

We have been baffled lately by the decreased in attendance. To prevent this situation, Erwin has taken upon himself to keep track of a pre-game attendance list. We would appreciate your cooperation in this matter so please respond pronto when you receive his email. There are a lot of guys out there who are begging to play. On another note, we would like to remind everyone that effective Sunday, September 12, game time will change to 11:00 AM. It will be posted next week on our website.

Elks win 10-9! Yesterday's cat-and-dog weather seemingly dissuaded some of the regulars to make it to the playing field, the couch potatoes preferred to stay home, so today's attendance was kind of skimpy. Consequently, we only played one game instead of the customary double header. Well, let's set the record straight, we actually had the intention of playing a second game but since we were forced to stop after only three innings, it won't count as an official game. Sorry Erwin...close, but not cigar! It's really ashamed for twelve runs go to waste in that manner.

In any event, the only official game was a heck of a game indeed, and the Elks held up by a thread until their final whiff. And notwithstanding his aspirations as a movie star are zilch after his phlegmatic defensive attempts, the offensive player of the game was Lawman Matt who hit a pair of dingers. Steve also had a solid day at the plate with two triples. Defensively, we have to mention two outstanding plays, Sam's circus catch in left field and the writer's diving catch at third.

Also in attendance today: Nelson, Gary (got robbed twice by his daughter Erin who played great second base), Joey, Mitch, Jared (got a four-bagger), Raul, Roberto, Russ, Danny, Big Joe (hmm...thrown out at first after singling).

See you all next week!

Elks drop both games of double-header! After last week's rainout, we had a great turnout on a sunny and balmy forenoon. The infield was fairly arid despite yesterday's precipitations, noticeable depressions besieged third base and the grass was untrimmed. However, the poor field conditions didn't deter us from playing riveting and breathtaking ball. Everyone that played today contributed both with the bat and the glove and had a real good time.

Defensibly, newcomer John was the player of the game with two outstanding running catches in centerfield, also Danny made a spectacular grab of a ball that had to flag down, Joe corralled a couple of difficult fly balls in right field, and Kenny flashed some leather at third.

The long ball evinced repeatedly with dingers by Freddy, Manny, Virgilio, Billy and the writer who had a rare six RBI day. The end result: two impressive victories for the M-Picks, 8-7 and 8-3, with the tandem of Kenny and número uno as the winning pitchers.

Also in attendance, Sam, Nelson, Gary, Joe 21, Doug, Mitch, Dave, Big Joe, Jared, Kenny II, Matsui Ching, Erin, Joey, Steve, Erwin, Jeff and Apache John.

Double-header split! Big Joe pitches lights out and blanks M-Picks 6-0 in opener. In night cap, Manny powers M-picks to a 6-5 comeback victory with a three run blast.

After manicuring the infield and getting rid of the puddles at third, game one got underway. We witnessed a superb pitching duel. CPA Pete and Big Joe were just awesome and kept the batters at bay. The winning pitcher was Big Joe who didn't allow a run and managed to escape from a no one out bases loaded jam on the top of the fifth.

In game two Jeff had great stuff, lot of spin on the ball, and the Elks looked destined to run away with another win but Manny's dormant bat roused with a pair of homers and 5 RBIs.

Also in attendance today, Joe (heck of a day at the plate going 5 for 6), Joe 21 (argued tag at third), Apache John (not comfortable at the plate all season), Sam (nice stab at second), Andre (played a few innings only), Freddy (had a couple of blast but were caught), Jose (good hitting day), Jack (selective hitter), Lawman Matt (hangover pills did not work today, needs a massage instead), Mitch (M-Picks captain today), Nelson (hit a couple of ropes), Kenny (played first for a change), Doug (the defensive player in both games, played great left field), Steve (played center field), Raul (two outstanding plays at second), Dave (nice catch in short center), Greg (treacherous day at third), and yours truly (winning pitcher in game two).

See you all next week!

Manny's efforts wasted! Manny unleashed a barrage and put on a display of power by belting four homers but the M-picks succumbed to mediocrity and ineptitude and winded up losing both ends of today's double-header 8-5 and 14-9 respectively. In the opener the M-Picks seemed in the lap of the gods. They were playing outstanding ball and were ahead 3-0. Joe was cruising along, pitching superbly and the team's fielding was impeccable with flashes of brilliancy.

But in the fifth inning, after back to back screamers by the Elks, a harmless pop fly would spawn the eventual demise of the M-Picks. In the aforementioned play, three infielders futilely circled about the pitcher's mound in funny merry-go-round fashion trying to grab the ball. Subsequently, the M-picks plunged into a lethargic collapse that carried over the next game as well. Once forces in both squads got reduced, the miscues kept manifolding. The Elks, cognizant of this paucity, as well as the lack of natural ability of the depleted outfield judiciously took advantage of the situation and cashed in.

Also in attendance today, Erwin (lovely olé maneuver), Sam (a hitting machine lately, nice homer), Nelson (atom balls all day), Erin (behind the plate and a couple of hits), Gary (pitched well), Big Joe (a pair of outstanding catches in the outfield), Mitch (great comment regarding controversial play at home), Billy (average day for him), Jack (a couple of hits), José (forgettable day defensibly), Joey (got robbed of a pair of hits), Raul (scorched the ball),  Russ (he's back), Lawman Matt (hit a homer and would like to officially endorse the CVS hangover pills by attesting to its emetic prevention benefits; good to know!), George (a couple of hits and solid defense), Kenny (Mister Pro), Marty (put the after burners in center field and made spectacular catches), Doug (nice over the shoulder catch behind second base) and the writer (a couple of hits and a diving catch at third).

See you all next week!

It's outta here! The Elks take the opener 10-7 and are blanked 2-0 by the M-Picks in the night cap. They say that in softball, and in baseball, logical argumentation doesn't always hold true. Indeed! In the first game of today's twin bill, for instance, we witnessed some of the most horrendous, atrocious and ragged fielding anyone's eyes can bear to watch. But no one, and I mean... no one, can be exempted from "mea culpa," we all sucked big time and failed to perform. Blame it on the field if you want, but there are no valid excuses, and there is no need to torture ourselves by going into painful and disturbing details.

As game one progressed, fate seemed to reverse itself, and all of a sudden, the fielding improved greatly and carried into game two that was a defensive gem. We had four double-plays, three of them turned by the infield duet of Apache John and Pujols Freddy. Also Stephanie and Liz played lights out defense and Fantasy Bill made an outstanding catch off the tree.

The long ball had its resurgence and Fantasy Bill was the major beneficiary by getting a hold of two bombs. Lawman Matt also contributed with a dinger but Jared's monster shot, one of the longest balls hit in this field, was just impressive. Awesome power babe!

On another note, Mitch informed us that Russ injured a foot and will be out for a couple of weeks. Also CPA Pete suffered today a calf pull. We wish both of them a quick recovery. Remember guys R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression and elevation).

Also on attendance today Gary (pitched well), Erin (behind the plate), Joey, George (nice hitting), David (hitting with authority lately), Danny (outstanding play in the outfield to rob Freddy), Nelson (right handed but Keith Hernandez clone), Pasquale (trampoline glove and a couple of plunges), Jose (a temerity running the bases), Jack (Jose's clone or viceversa), Kenny (got his number, just kidding), Steve (nice running catch), Joe (good hitting), Erwin (found his stroke again), and the writer (a couple of RBIs).

Happy Fourth of July! I know Mets fans are really enjoying the day. Let's go Mets! Before we go into today's game incidences I would like to clarify that the object of our weekly report is not to criticize, censure, find fault or make fun of anyone's mishaps with waggish remarks. Even the pros goof up. Therefore, chill out guys...this is just tongue-in-cheek!

We would like to thank Mitch for today's report...

Eight is Enough!
by Mitch Weingart

The M-picks and Elks played a hard fought battle this July 4th holiday...and after seven grueling innings, like two heavyweights slugging it out, the game was declared a draw, tied at eight, in fear that the contest might continue on endlessly, in the same manner of this run-on sentence...

With Joe and Jeff providing some crisp pitching, it was once again left up to our collection of circus clowns and baseball bozos on both sides of the field, to provide the heroics. Both teams allowed several easy runs on costly errors, mental mistakes, misdirected throws and wardrobe malfunctions...sandwiched between the occasional clean hit up the middle. Certainly, the player of the game for the Elks was Sam, who despite battling a painful blister brought on by careless cigar smoking, continued punishing the opposition with well placed line drives in the gap and some nice plays in the field. As a matter of fact, Sam managed to hit for the cycle over both games today...is that called a "bi-cycle"??.... Jack also deserves a mention for a nice twisting catch of Liz's pop fly to second...and Liz in turn made several nice one handed catches of everything that came to her in the outfield...My daughter, Stef, played a gutsy game, getting robbed of a sure hit, by Dave...and sticking it out, despite some minor injuries, that will probably prevent her from helping with the laundry later...and newcomer Jason, in only his second appearance at Windsor Park softball, showed some power at the plate and a reasonably good goatee for a 19 yr old.

Anyway, despite an early 6-2 lead by the M-picks, the Elks managed to battle back and take the late lead...only to watch Mo's team tie it up an inning later.  It was a game somewhat reminiscent of this weekend's great Met/Yankee series...except some of us had to leave early....you know who you are!! So, in the spirit of our forefathers, we declared our independence and moved onto the next game...

Game two had a score, but the game score sheet got smudged in my bag. ...If you were on the team that took the field first, I think you lost...or maybe not...  By the second half of today's double header, we were pretty well drained of our usual enthusiasm, evidence by some bitching from both sides about some close calls that could have gone either way....Big Joe's bat came alive in the second game, plus there was a nice catch by Matsui, sporting her Lou Gehrig T-shirt. Also some nice hustling by Greg on both offense and defense, despite wearing long sleeves and sweatpants on this hot summer day... Paid attendance at this, our last game at Francis Lewis Field was 20... Next week we move back to Field 4 on Union Turnpike...see ya then!!

Record turnout! Some of the guys were a bit worried about this year's below average attendance. Well, don't rack your brains any longer and don't expect me to remember the names of today's thirty plus attendees.

Today we played two complete games and part of a third one. In the first game Kenny had a great pitching outing and the Elks won 4-2. In game two, Jared was in complete control till the top of seventh when he run out of gas and surrendered five runs for a 5-4 M-Picks comeback victory.  The third game was suspended after four innings of play when the Elks had a commanding 6-3 lead.

Also on attendance today Erwin, Nelson, Sam (dropped two pop outs in a row but redeemed himself at the plate hitting a triple), Matsui Ching (pitched superbly in the third game), Russell (misplayed a ball in the outfield but carried a big bat and as well as Matsui was properly attired with the Mets garments), Freddy (played great short), Fantasy Bill (trying to play third), Apache John (I'll bite my tongue... just say that he had a rough day in the outfield), CPA Pete (got robbed of a homer by a step), Gary, Steve, Raul, Virgilio, Manny (not soft hands today), Lawman Matt (MVP of game two), Doug, Kenny II, John, Marty, Jason, George, Joe, Jack, Danny, Joe 21, Calvin, Fred and the writer (not a good day at the play but flashed some leather).

I would like to remind everyone that starting on July 11th we'll go back to our regular field on Union Turnpike. See you all next week!

Happy Father's Day! Due to time constraints, today's report will be brief. The M-Picks and the Elks split doubleheader. The M-Picks won the opener 9-4 and dropped the night cap 4-3 so the Elks are .636 for the season.

In attendance were Erwin, Nelson, Sam, Stephanie, Jackie, Matsui Ching, Mitch, Russell, Pasquale, Doug, Danny, Steve, Joe, Kenny, Pujols Freddy, Ken, Fantasy Bill, Apache John, Sam, CPA Pete and yours truly. See you all next week!

Elks win doubleheader! The M-Picks resembled Art Howe's NY Mets and lost both ends of today's twin bill 11-10 and 12-2 respectively. In the first game, the Elks took advantage of the M-Picks sloppy defense by scoring eight runs in the second inning after a series of gaffes. It was very windy so the ball didn't carry well. The player of the game was Danny. The mugginess didn't seem to affect him. He managed to get on base almost every time at bat and made some nice catches in the outfield. But probably the best nab was Mitch's inverted shoe-string catch in right field, a helluva play because he had to run a long way to get to the ball.

In the second game, some of the guys had to leave so we played only half of the field. Late arrival Virgilio put on a display of power by crushing a couple of balls. Also in attendance today Erwin, George, Kenny, Doug, Nelson, Lawman Matt, Fantasy Bill, Manny, Raul, Sam, Jared, Gary, Jeff, Paco and the writer.

In another news, we're glad to hear from Mitch that Russell's dad is doing great after open heart surgery. We wish him a speedy recovery and expect to see Russ back soon in the field.

Seven-Up! The playing field was in impeccable condition, not a single mud puddle, and a few raindrops should not deter the zealous softball players from working out. Well, that wasn't the case and today's game had to be canceled due to nonattendance. With the exception of Danny that departed promptly, the weather-intrepid earthlings that arrived to the field decided to tough it out and stay for a two-hour batting practice. We had a great time.

For their resolve and courage, we applaud diehards Sam, Joe, Jack, Lawman Matt, Fantasy Bill and yours truly. That's all... hmm sissies!

Elks take 2 out of 3! Sunday morning under sunny skies, as a prelude to Memorial Day, we played our first triple-header of the season, a twenty-one inning endurance contest that lasted over three hours and forty-five minutes. In game one, the better of the three, the Elks won easily 4-1. The player of the game was Kenny. He was just superb on the mound and his location and control held the M-Picks sluggers at bay. However, Kenny's masterful pitching performance was bolstered by a flawless defense energized by non other than "Show-off" Pasquale who as always delighted us with his antic and swaggering stunts.

In game two, the Elks dominance succumbed rapidly when the M-Picks lifeless bats came alive and their until-then impeccable defense fell to pieces. The final score was 7-4 in favor of the M-Picks. Finally in the rubber match, by now both teams already depleted and forced to pick sides again and pitch to themselves, with no legs and limited stamina, the Elks managed to prevail by a score of 11-3.

Also in attendance today: Jared, Apache John, Big Joe, Mitch, Dave, Lawman Matt, CPA Pete, Nelson, Joe, Sam, Joe 21, George, Jack, Fantasy Bill, Erwin, Danny, Doug, Arsenals late arrivals Raul and Manny, and the writer. See you all next week!

Sunday, May 23, 2004
Matt-nificent! M-picks split another twinbill with Elks. They win game one 9-6 and lose the night cap 8-6. In the opener, Big Joe and the writer pitched well but got betrayed by a series of fielding miscues.

However brilliant defensive plays were not lacking, and in the bottom of the fourth of game one we witnessed the outstanding play of the day. CPA Pete comes up to bat, digs in, takes a couple of pitches and... gets a hold of one of Big Joe's cutters. He drives the ball, a blue dart to left, but Mike Cameron, I mean, Lawman Matt is patrolling left field. He chases the screaming rope at full throttle, leaps and makes a brilliant circus catch to rob Pete of a homer. Wow, what a play!

Also in attendance today were Pat (snagged a couple of balls), Kenny (nice double play), Joe 21 (flashed the leather at third), Apache John (spring training phase yet), George (played well), Mitch (nice T-shirt), Jack (at second base today), newcomer Joe (played right field), Dave (at short-center today), Jared (crushed the ball), Sam (won't hit any inside pitches), Erwin (back at first), Danny (mind says "got-it", body... almost), Nelson (unusual error at first) and Fantasy Bill (had a pair of doubles and a homer).

See you folks next week!

Jeff gets pounded on opening day! M-Picks lose opener 7-5 and later blank Elks 16-0 in game two. After all the tribulations surrounding our field permit, opening day finally materialized last Sunday morning. Even with all the hubbub, and the rain from the night before, we had a pretty decent crowd. Weather-wise, we couldn't ask for a better day for playing ball, just gorgeous.

As everyone knows we already have the permits for summer and spring on our regular field (field 4) from July till the end of the season. Bob is trying to get us a temporary field for June, however, meanwhile it was agreed that we'll keep playing where we played yesterday, the area adjacent to field 19 located on Francis Lewis Blvd. & 73rd Ave. (North side). It's not a manicured lawn but it's playable and has the dimensions. Anyhow, no one seemed to complain, everyone was glad to be back playing. Even Jeff made the comment that the enclosing greenery and shrubbery with the chirping of the birds evoked a South American Eden. In such relaxing surroundings, no wonder his derelict performance on the mound, a precise portrayal of Mets pitcher Baldwin, rather analogous indeed.

Also on attendance yesterday were: Lawman Matt (literally crushed the ball), Mitch (the Elks interim captain made a nice catch in the outfield), CPA Pete (great running catch), Fantasy Bill (just outstanding), Joe 21 (flashed the leather at third), Russell (acrobatic catch in the outfield), Allan (played one game only), Danny (inside the park homer), Jack (a hitting machine), Parker (played short), Ching (a couple of singles, pitched well and got hit by a ball), Marty (played great outfield) and yours truly (not being solipsistic, a good day at the plate and an impressive pitching performance by allowing three hits and no runs). See you all next week!

February 22, 2004
A week after Valentine's Day... softball jitters! No one said that playing softball in the middle of February in New York may be hazardous to your health but probably it's not what the doctor ordered either. You may deem it pure insanity but the fact of the matter is that ten daredevils made it to field today and waited impatiently for Meredith that offered to bring some chocolate but never showed up. The field was in relative good condition, we had batting practice and also infield drills. This was a first ever for WP and we are planning to have another spring training session sometime in mid March before opening day.

On attendance today: Freddy Pujols (a long ride from Westchester), Jack, newcomer Peter, Arsenals' Raul, Sam, Andre, Mailman Nelson, Matsui, Russell and the writer.

We wish all our  friends a happy new year and hope that 2004 will bring you happiness, health, love, joy and the fullfilment of all your wishes!
