See you guys next year!
By Maurice Novelle

Tomorrow’s game has been cancelled due to inclement weather and expected low turnout.

We had another great year but our season finally comes to an end and like a good wine, it seems that we get better with age.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Joes mount late inning comeback to best Sticks
By Little Joe Marra

Sixteen guys ignored the calendar, looked at the sun outside their windows instead and decided to play ball Sunday morning. In Maurice's absence Kenny provided the bases and Artie provided his managerial skills as the two teams squared off for one seven- inning game. Although not as wild as last week, today's game had plenty of craziness, most especially the endless comic antics of Manny, Pedro and Rob.

Artie' pitching stifled Joe's team at first and his team led 9-2 after three innings, then 11-5 after 5. But the tables were turned in the last two as the Joe's scored five in the sixth and five in the seventh. Final score: 15-14. There was much enthusiasm expressed today about getting in at least one more Sunday. God willing and weather permitting we'll see you all next week. Don't forget dues!

Today's attendees: Artie, Matsui, John, Efrain, Chris, Mike Y, Dave, Arun, Little Joe, Manny, Pedro, Kenny, Rob, Phil, Mike and newcomer Adrian.

Latest injury report: Peter W (calf tear), Mike W (meniscal injury), Maurice (quad strain) and Big Joe (broken toe).

Joes defeat Sticks 31-28 in most bizarre game
By Maurice Novelle

Today’s game may well go down in the annals of WP Softball history as the craziest game ever played. Of all the crazy games we’ve played throughout the years probably none have been as wild. It was not only the highest scoring game for total combined runs but the worst defensive game with most errors committed by both teams.

Among the game highlights there were three grand slams, eight misplayed fly balls and curious enough no double plays were turned.

In attendance were Matsui, Mauricio, Matt, Little Joe, Pedro, Artie, Rob, Mike R, Manny, Nick T, John, Phil, Mike Y, Efrain, Arun, Alec and the writer.

Game gets rained out
By Maurice Novelle

Rain was expected early in the morning but the latest weather forecasts predicted just a couple of drizzles so we decided to give it a try and hope for the best.

Pete W, Efrain, Phil, John, Arun and the writer made it to the field. Artie and Mauricio were on their way but Big Joe probably still under the bed sheets took a furtive peek through his bedroom window and cried out over the phone, “it’s raining” so we called it off.

See you guys next week… and let’s go Mets.

Thirteen diehards brave cold weather
By Maurice Novelle

Well not much to report today. A few of the guys chickened out last minute expecting wintry temperatures. Shame on you! It was a bit nippy but not that cold.

Only thirteen players made it to the field so we had to play a modified round robin game. Nick, John and Manny were the captains. The final score was 9-3-13.

In attendance were Manny, Roque, Efrain, Phil, John, Mauricio, Mike Y, Nick T, Artie, Mike W, Nick, Little Joe and the writer.

See you guys next week, the weather is supposed to be warmer. Don’t forget to bring some dough for next year’s softball permit. Much obliged!

Joes split double headers with Sticks
By Maurice Novelle

Last week I didn’t have a chance to post the game report so here is a quick recap of what happened. The infield was in pretty bad shape after Joaquin’s downpours so we migrated into the grass. Fifteen players made it to the field and we played a round robin. Defensively it was probably one of the worst games in recent memory.  In attendance were Little Joe, Manny, Phil, Artie, Mike 4, Nick T, John, Efrain, Mike R, Nig Joe, Kenny, Lance, Sergio, Dave and the writer. Little Joe and Mo squads came ahead scoring 12 runs each while Big Joe’s team managed only 5 runs.

The 2015 season is approaching its denouement but attendance remains steady and today we had another great turnout. The Joes won the opener 8-3 behind Little Joe’s great pitching performance and the Sticks won the nightcap 5-1.

In attendance were Nick T, Mauricio, Wayne, Mike Y, Kenny, Pedro, John, Mike W, Mike 4, Tony, Anthony, Little Joe, Matsui, Roque, Phil, Jeff, Lance, Artie, Rob, Nick, Dave, Arun and the writer.

See you guys next week and don’t forget to bring some dough for next year’s permit.

Sticks return favor
By Maurice Novelle

The first triple play ever executed in WP Softball history didn’t help the Joes overcome defeat today. They were swept by the Sticks 7-0 and 3-2. The Sticks emerged today as the better team exhibiting superior individual pitching, fielding and hitting performances.

The player of the game was Pete W that is red hot with the bat and the defensive player was Matt with a brilliant “Ron Swoboda” diving catch in centerfield.

On attendance today were Big Joe, Manny, Mauricio, Mike W, Pedro, Artie, Efrain, Sergio, Little Joe, Mike R, Mike 4, Jeff, Nick T, Roque, John, Matt, Mike Y, Rob, Nick, Dave B, Pete W and the writer.

Hey congrats to Sergio and his girlfriend on the arrival of their newborn baby Makayla Alexandra.

Joes rock Jeff
By Maurice Novelle

The Joes pummeled the Sticks 8-1 and 10-1 respectively to take both ends of today’s twinbill. Jeff was hit hard at times and the Sticks infield defense looked shaky.

The player of the game was Mauricio who put on a power display belting a grand slam with a mammoth blast. Mike W also got a hold of one and Manny was robbed twice.

However the highlight of the game was a controversial play at home plate when Roque made no attempt to catch the ball and the runner was called safe by the umpire. Tempers flared and both teams got into a heated exchanged.  Watch video clips above and deduce yourself.

Rain doesn’t show up
By Maurice Novelle

Deciding whether or not to cancel a game due to the onset of rain it can become a point of controversy and since weather forecasting is not an exact science it is always a tough call.

The decision to cancel a game is not taken lightly but is weighted very carefully. For instance today, according to Whoozin only 9 players were in and even though the odds of precipitation were low, we decided that it was prudent to call off the game because with the heavy rain from the night before the field most certainly would be unfit for play. It turned out, as per Pete’s photo above shows that it wasn’t that bad after all. Well, like they say… better safe than sorry.

Joes Split Twinbill with Sticks
By Maurice Novelle

Happy Labor Day guys! Well, you know what this means… the end of summer, but we still have a few more weeks to go so let’s keep enjoying softball. What a great season so far, like the good wine, we get better with age.

Yesterday when we arrived to the field we were greatly surprised to see that the infield was freshly resurfaced with a coat of sand and clay, the warning track weeds were removed gaining three-four feet of space in the outfield and the grass was cut.  Great job Pete!

Last couple of weeks we’ve been playing high-caliber competitive softball and yesterday we continued the trend with two animated games. The Sticks won the opener 7-4 and the Joes returned the favor winning the nightcap 8-4.  The player of the game was Arum. He ran the bases judiciously and made a couple of exceptional plays in the outfield; the throw from left field to nail fleet-footed Phil at home was incredible.

In attendance today were Big Joe, Super Diablo Manny, Matt, Phil, Eitan, Efrain, Artie, Chris, Photo Man Mike, Little Joe, Jeff, Roque, John, Kenny, Jay, Mike the Wolf, Lance, Sergio, Dave B, Arun and the writer. Also Alec stopped by to say hello and drop the softball permit fees for next year.  Hey guys, don’t forget to bring some dough… thanks!

Joes on top, take both games
By Maurice Novelle

Last week we praised the puissant performance of both teams in the field. Today we had another heck of a ball game that pushed deep into extra innings and culminated with a thrilling 5-4 victory by the resilient Joes that kept coming back like the energizer bunny to tie the score twice and finally beat the Sticks.

Game two was diametrical opposite, a game plagued by fielding errors.  The Sticks’ offense was anemic and the Joes won the night cap effortlessly 10-2.

In attendance were Jeff, Roque, John, Manny IV, Lance, Kenny, Mike W, Sergio, Little Joe, Chris, Mike IV, Keph, Big Joe, Matsui, Mauricio, Phil, Efrain, Artie, Dave B, Haj, Jay, Paul and the writer.

Just a reminder we’ve started collecting 2016 permit fees. Please bring some dough… thanks!

Vintage softball
By Maurice Novelle

It’s a pleasant rarity when you stumble upon a game where both teams play hard and well. Yesterday we probably witnessed and participated in the greatest game ever played in WP Softball’s history. This is no exaggeration at all. Game one was a gem, flawless defensively and exhibiting great pitching. There were too many outstanding defensive plays to select one but Matt and Lance were both superb making several outstanding running catches in the outfield. At the end, the Sticks walked away with a narrow 1-0 win.

The night cap was a come-back to reality game, no fluke here, with the Joes winning 10-3 and taking advantage of a string of misplays in the outfield. It seems that the addition of a fifth outfielder affects the integrity of the game so in the future we’ll implement a DH and rotate players instead.

In attendance were Big Joe, John, Matsui, Roque, Matt, Pedro, Mike W, Dave B, Jay, Little Joe, Haj, Paul, Jeff, Manny, Nick T, Phil, Kenny, Artie, Mauricio, Lance, Pete, Keph and the writer.

Extra bases: Hey guys, please be responsible and considerate don’t leave your water bottles or trash behind, place it in barrels. Thank you! Also we’re going to start collecting towards next year’s field permit.

See you guys next week!

Rey Arturo dazzles on the mound
By Maurice Novelle

Today's loaded Mozzarella Sticks line-up looked formidable on paper but the reality turned to be other, a resounding fiasco. That goes to show that power bats are not enough, you need a well balanced team to be competitive.

Artie took over captain duties for the Bazooka Joes. He pitched both games and was brilliant hitting the spots, mixing it up and keeping the Sticks bats off balance; a terrific pitching performance by Rey Arturo defeating the Sticks 6-3 and 13-3 respectively.

Here are the team formations

Sticks: Nick T RF, Jeff P, John LF, Robin CF, Rob 3B, Mike W SS, Lance 1B, Jack C, Jay SC and Maurice 2B

Joes: Kenny C, Efrain 3B, Phil CF, Chris RF, Sergio LF, Pedro SC, Dave B 2B, Artie P, Alec 1B and Roque SS

WP Softball BBQ was a Blast!
By Maurice Novelle

WP Softball players and family members poured into Alley Pond Park this past Sunday for our sixth annual barbecue to enjoy great food and great company. Not a stomach went home unfilled. That was Big Joe’s major concern so mission accomplished!

In our eighteenth year in existence we’ve never witnessed such unprecedented turnout, a record-breaking thirty two ball players. That’s impressive to say the least.

In order to allow everyone some playing time we formed three teams and played a five-inning round robin format.

In attendance were Roque, John, Mike W, Mauricio, Carl, Phil, Little Joe, Chris, Arun, Savas, Dave, Many, Jeff, Robin, Lance, Pedro, Sergio, Kenny, Mike R, James, Russell, Nick T, Matsui, Matt, Mike Y, Efrain, Rob, Artie, Big Joe, Rick, Pete W and the writer.

Defensive errors lead to doubleheader split
By Maurice Novelle

In game one the Joes pull off their biggest come-from-behind win of the season defeating the Sticks 7-6. The Sticks blew a six run lead after a series of defensive errors.

In the night cap the Sticks failed to hold this time a three-run lead. Poor fielding, misjudged fly balls and errant throws sent the game into extra innings. Finally after eleven strenuous innings, following a solid hit by Artie, fleet-footed Arun took off galloping vehemently around the base paths beating the throw home and scoring, giving the Sticks a deserved 5-4 victory. What a game!

We had another great turnout. In attendance were Manny, Mike W, Phil, Robin, Sergio, Big Joe, Chris, Little Joe, James, Rick, Pedro, Roque, John, Efrain, Kenny, Artie, Dave B, Arun, Mike, Pete W, Rob and the writer.

Hey guys don’t forget that next Sunday it’s our annual barbecue. Get ready for some great food after the game! See you then!

Joes come back to take night cap
By Maurice Novelle

Game one of today’s twin bill was a real slugfest. After four innings of play the Sticks held a 15-2 lead over the Joes and the mercy rule was claimed and put in effect by Big Joe the acting captain in Little Joe’s absence.

Game two was on an even keel with chances being created for both sides but the Joes took advantage of the Sticks late innings defensive blunders winning it 9-8 on Roque’s walk-off single.

In attendance were Roque, Mike W, Kenny, Artie, Pedro, Sergio, Mike R, Big Joe, Pete W, Matt, Rob, Nick T, Phil, Jeff, Dave B, Robin, Chris, Tony and the writer.

Sizzling Sun Doesn't Stop Sharp Sticks as they Stifle Joe's Schmoes
By Little Joe Marra

A few years ago Kenny turned down the request to become the new manager, the job going to Little Joe instead. But he has the knack for the job and has built a great record subbing as manager, adding to it today with a dominant sweep.

In the first contest Jeff pitched his typical game and the Sticks won 9-2. Roque took the mound for the Sticks in game 2 and he kept the Joe's off balance with his spinners and off-speed stuff, pitching a shut-out into the 6th. The final score was 9-1. Big Joe and Little Joe both pitched well but the difference in the games was defense. The Sticks were tight, almost flawless. They made no spectacular plays in the field; they just played sound baseball and executed the fundamentals. The Joes were the exact opposite and the unearned runs were too numerous to keep track of.

Worth mentioning is Arun with good games both offensively and defensively and Big Joe with a couple of bombs over the outfielders heads.

Today's attendees: Kenny, John, Mike W., Nick, Arun, Mike Y. Sergio, Jeff, Roque, Chris, Big Joe, Pete W.,Russ, Matt, Efrain, Arty, Phil, Dave, Wilkis, and Little Joe.

Joes sweep 6-3, 9-8
By Maurice Novelle

The Joes took both ends of today’s twin bill. Once again solid pitching performance by Jeff in game one to keep Sticks bats at bay. The Sticks had their chance with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the fifth inning but couldn’t capitalize.

In game two, after being comfortably ahead 7-0, a series of defensive blunders doomed the Sticks. The coup the grace was Mauricio’s three run homer, a well hit ball over Nick’s head to the deepest part of the field in right.

In attendance today were Manny, Roque, Mauricio, Phil, Robin, Mike W, Sergio, Wilkes, Little Joe, Jeff, Matt, Matsui Pete, John, Nick T, Efrain, Kenny, Dave B, Chris, Tony, Bug Joe and the writer.

Enjoy the rest of week!

Just a reminder that our annual picnic has been scheduled for August 9.

Joes salvage night cap
By Maurice Novelle

Before we proceed with the game report, on behalf of all the guys we would like to extend our most sincere condolences to Mike Rutledge, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

We had another great turnout. The infield looked like Death Valley. After last week’s rain showers and mud scraping it was in pretty bad condition and we had to rake it well.
Game one was marked by dominant pitching and very good defense. Until the fifth inning it was a relative evenly matched contest but the Sticks bats came alive scoring four runs to walk away with a 7-2 victory.

In game two the Joes took advantage early of the Sticks defensive woes to jump ahead on the scoreboard with Angelo’s three run homer. John’s mammoth shot will return the favor and put the Sticks out front but the Joes rallied in the last inning to stage a 10-9 come-from-behind  win with Mike Y’s weak ground ball dribble to third.

In attendance were Big Joe, Mike Y, Mike W, Angelo, Kenny, Eitan, Little Joe, Peter P, Dave B, Russell, Jeff, Manny, Matt, John, Phil, Artie, Sergio, Arun, Savas and the writer.

Overcast skies but game on
By Maurice Novelle

The weather forecast didn’t look good at all. It called for rain showers at game time but we decided to take the risk anyhow. It paid off! A baker’s dozen showed up defying Mother Nature and after fixing the field puddles and taking some batting practice cuts we played a round robin format game.  Little Joe’s squad was blanked and Big Joe and Mo’s quartets finished tied for a final score of 0-5-5.

In attendance were Manny, Dave B, Big Joe, Eitan, Artie, Mike, Roque, Little Joe, Nick, Kenny, Pete W, newcomer Wilkes and the writer.

See you guys next week and don’t forget to answer our Annual BBQ poll with the days you’ll be available to attend. Happy 4th of July!

Sticks are unstoppable, sweep doubleheader
By Maurice Novelle

The Mozzarella Sticks continue their torrid stretch beating the Bazooka Joes again and taking both ends of today's twin bill with two electrifying back to back come-from-behind victories.

In game one they scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning after an inside the park homer by Eitan followed by a Manny three-run blast to win it 10-9. In the night cap they manufactured three runs, a solo shot by Chris over his brother's head, Matt’s frozen rope to left center beyond John’s reach to drive in Eitan and Mike’s hard hit grounder to third for an 8-7 walk off win.

The catalyst and best player of the game was Eitan without a doubt. He was a real menace on the base paths, hit with authority and played solid defense in the left field. The defensive player of the game once again was Phil in center field. He made three awesome running catches but probably the highlight reel play was a circus catch he made in deep deep center to rob Nick T of a sure homer. He actually stopped and turned twice to track the trajectory of the ball. That was just phantasmagoric! Also Nick T made a nice shoe-string catch in right field but unfortunately he injured his wrist in the process. We hope it’s nothing serious and hope to see him next Sunday.

In attendance today were Big Joe, Roque, Peter Matsui, John, Kenny, Phil, Little Joe, Dave B, Peter W, Jeff, Manny, Matt, Mike W, Nick T, Eitan, Mike, Chris and the writer.

Even Steven!
By Maurice Novelle

It’s been a while since the Mozzarella Sticks managed to win both ends of a doubleheader, well… mission accomplished! The opener was a gem, a well played game with several stellar defensive plays and three remarkable running catches in the outfield by Phil, the player of the game certainly.

The Sticks turned a pair of dazzling double plays, one on a comebacker to the pitcher to get John in no man’s land, and the other one a backhand tag by Rob at third to get Mike W. But probably the defensive play of the game was a graceful diving stab at second by newcomer Mike Y on a line drive that glanced off Artie’s glove.

Not everyone flashed the leather. There were quite a few misplayed and muffed balls on seemingly routine grounders by sure-handed infielders and especially conspicuous were Mike W struggles at third.

Again, we had another great turnout.  In attendance were Manny, John, Mike W, Artie, Sergio, Pete P, Arun, Little Joe, Chris, Pedro, Mike Y, Roque, Jeff, Matt, Kenny, Phil, Nick, Mike, Pete W, Rob and the author.

On a separate note, I would like to emphasize the ideals of sportsmanship, ethical conduct and fair play. WP Softball players are expected to abide by a code of conduct. Please refrain from using physical verbal abuse or profane language at any time at the field. Thank you!

Even Steven!
By Maurice Novelle

Little Joe and Jeff couldn’t make it today so Artie took over captain duties and also pitched for the Bazooka Joes. Game one was an 11-1 lopsided victory for the Mozzarella Sticks that looked very impressive in the field and with their bats. The only run scored by the Joes was a “Manny-like” homer by newcomer Nick T, a long drive on a low pitch by yours truly and probably the only blemish by the winning pitcher.

In game 2 after a series of infield errors by the Sticks the momentum somehow reversed and the Joes became the dominant team defeating the sticks 9-1. Artie pitched lisght out.

We had another great turnout, in attendance were Kenny, Dave B, John, Efrain, Matsui, Nick T, Chris, Artie, Mike W, Pete P (welcome back stranger), Savas, Manny, Matt, Roque, Phil, Nick, Russ, Eitan, Pete W, Mike, Sergio and the writer.

Joes sweep doubleheader from Sticks
By Maurice Novelle

Before we proceed with yesterday’s game report, this Memorial Day we would like to pause and thank all service members, Veterans and their families for their contributions and service to our great nation. We would like to take this opportunity to not only remember the sacrifices of our fallen heroes and mourn their departure but celebrate the spirit with which they served and reflect upon their contributions in making America, truly, the land of the free. We owe you a great debt!

We had a great turnout, twenty six players made it to Alley Park field 12. The Bazooka Joes reminiscent of last year’s accomplishments walked away with a pair of victories defeating the Mozzarella Sticks 2-0 and 6-5 respectively. On both games the Joes took advantage of defensive miscues by the Sticks. In the opener a misplayed fly ball in center field and in the nightcap a pair of throws to first base that were mishandled.

A few things worth mentioning and game highlights: Pete W solid hitting lately and sudden surge of power, Jeff redeeming himself from his last rough outing and pitching lights out not allowing a run, and Artie outstanding circus catch in short center.

In attendance were Big Joe, Manny, Efrain, John, Phil, Lawman, Arum, Russ, Mike the roofer, Pete W, Savas, Rob, Jeff, Roque, Mike W, Mid Joe, Kenny, Artie, Sergio, Dave B, Little Joe, Rex, Chris, Dave W, Pedro and the writer.

Joes and Sticks split doubleheader
By Maurice Novelle

Last week Jeff surrendered eleven runs in three innings, this past Sunday Big Joe allowed ten runs in just one inning. It was a slugger-fest with back to back homers by the Mikes. Super Diablo put on a hitting clinic with mammoth shots to all fields. The final score 10-3 in favor of the Mozzarella Sticks and a good pitching performance by the penman.

Game one was a gem. And with the exception of the four runs the Bazooka Joes managed to score in the first inning taking advantage of a few defensive slip-us by the Sticks infield, it was a very close contest, the end result a 6-4 victory for the Joes.

In attendance were Roque, Matt, John, Kenny, Little Joe, Eitan, Dave B, Big Joe, Pete W, Manny, Mike W, Phil, Artie, Sergio, Mike R, newcomer Jim and yours truly.

Big Joe tosses gem in Mother’s Day 11-5 win
By Maurice Novelle

This is the second week in a row with low attendance. Hopefully it doesn’t become a recurrence the rest of the season. After a 3-3-1 round robin attempt with a pair of late arrivals we switched gears and played an abbreviated regular game.

Mozzarella Sticks ace hurler Jeff was not effective again and had a rough outing surrendering eleven runs in only three innings of work. Roque set the tone early with a two-run hard hit line drive after a couple of fielding errors in left field.

But the exciting play of the game was a collision at home plate towards the end of the game. In a hard clean hit, Pete W was lifted up in the air like a balloon, held onto the ball but wasn’t able to tag runner Dave B out.

In attendance were Big Joe, Roque, John, Little Joe, Pedro, Phil, Pete V, Jeff, Rob, Mike W, Kenny, Dave B, Arun, Pete W and the writer.

Houdini Disappearance Act
By Maurice Novelle

The first nice Sunday of the season and attendance drops like a hot potato. I guess some of the guys stayed late to watch last night’s disappointing fight of the century between Mayweather and Pacquiao.

And with merely nine guys we were forced to play a modified round robin using half of the field. Jeff’s team came ahead 11-8-6.

In attendance were Jeff, Mike W, Lawman, Kenny, Little Joe, Big Joe, Matt, John, and the writer. Alec was a late arrival, Pete W called in sick and Mitch stopped by and paid us a visit.

Joes sweep Sticks 5-4, 14-2 in doubleheader
By Maurice Novelle

Artie took over captain duties for the Bazooka Joes. Little Joe couldn’t attend today’s game because of the passing away of his father-in-law Fiore Latini early in the morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe and his family during this difficult time.

Game-wise, not much to report except for the great pitching by Artie to beat Jeff and win both ends of twin bill, and outstanding defense by Luis and Roque in the outfield tracking and catching everything.  Kudos to them… much deserved!

In attendance were Mauricio, Luis, Roque, Rob F, Phil, Artie, Dave B, Rahsan, Pete W, Eric, Manny, Jeff, Matt, Pedro, Kenny, Arun, Jack, Mike, Alec and the writer.

See you guys next week… and just a reminder to those who have not yet contributed towards this year’s permit, please do so! Thanks!

Joes pull off twin bill split versus Sticks
By Maurice Novelle

We had another great turnout.  Game one, alike last week’s double header, was a lively competitive and well played contest; the end result a 4-3 victory for the Mozzarella Sticks. The player of the game was Big Joe. He pitched brilliantly and had also a very productive day at the plate with a series of solid hits. He also suffered an abdominal concussion when he was hit by a line drive off Roque’s bat in the middle of his potbelly; a twanging sound reverberated throughout the air and a nauseous tap-fermented ale permeated the playing field seconds later.
Game two was the exact opposite; an exhibition of atrocious fielding and a comedy of errors. The Bazooka Joes won the night cap easily 8-2.
In attendance today were Jeff, Roque, Mike W, Rex, Artie, Sergio, Mike R, Little Joe, Jack, Dave W, Eric, Big Joe, Matt, Mauricio, John, Kenny, Russ, Peter 2, Pete W, Alec, Phil and the writer.

Joes and Sticks split season-opening doubleheader
By Maurice Novelle

Our eighteenth season kicked off with a bang. We had a massive turnout for opening day and it was nice to catch sight of some faces from the past.  What a great day!

The field was in pretty good condition. We played a couple of 6-inning games. The Bazooka Joes took game one 3-1 and the Mozzarella Sticks 8-7 in game two.

In attendance were Jeff (pitched lights out), Manny (a pair of long drives), Mauricio (crushed the ball but had a hard time in left field), Rob F (blasted a majestic moon shot and was thrown at home trying to score), Kenny (didn’t feel comfortable at the plate), Mike W (played well defensively and had a pair of line drives), Artie (running at full speed again), Russ with son Savas, Mike R, Alec (please don't ump), Jack (the MVP is back), Pete K, Little Joe, Dave B, Big Joe (two unearned runs... happy?), Mike 4 (awesome defensively and first homer of the season),  Matt (had a blast with his kid), John, Peter 2 (good hands at third), Pedro (stroke out looking?), Rob(what a throw!), Phil, Roque (the iron man), Arun (needs brakes), Pete W and the writer (walk-off double).
